Polymock - The worlds most violent Chess
Polymock was a minigame that was introduced in Guild Wars 1 - Eye of the North expansion. Playing it allowed you to gain reputation with the Asuran race. The best way to describe it was a sort of violent chess, where the player was transformed into the chess piece they had chosen, and had to 'kill' the opponent's piece before they themselves were killed. You would have 3 pieces in total, and once all of one sides pieces were defeated, the other side won. A quote from the official Wiki states:
"There are 27 different Polymock pieces (sic), of which 18 are obtainable for players. Each time you pick one piece, you take the form of the corresponding creature. Polymock pieces resemble chess pieces when viewed in your inventory and appear to have a unique shape that is dependent upon the creature the piece is based upon. Each piece has its own set of skills, as shown by the table below. Polymock pieces must be registered before they can be used. See Denn in Rata Sum to register a piece."

Currently, none of our small team has had the chance to participate in Polymock, but hopefully this will be changing soon. Until then most of our content will be from what is left of the arena in Guild Wars 2, but we shall hopefully be able to update with some Guild Wars 1 content very soon.
The Polymock Arena in Guild Wars 2 is incredibly empty. The wind whistling around the complexe serves as a stark reminder of the emptiness and the air of abandonment of the place. Although we live in hope it will one day be reinstated, for now we have no choice but ti sit patiently and persistently beg the devs to remember it exists and that we haven't forgotten it guys come on! |
