The Silverwastes - More than a gold farm
The Silverwastes is often touted as one of the best and easiest gold farms available in game. The Vinewrath and associated events can yield a massive amount of items, materials and gold that accumulates the more you run it. [As of this 2021 update, it is less of a good thing, noticeably due to the large amounts of AFK bots living on this map at all times.]
But it is far more than just that. It contains some amazing architecture that is only accessible during one small moment in Heart Of Thorns, despite being in game for a much longer time than that. Saying this however, Guild Wars does have a large history of putting in maps and areas that are inaccessible for years at a time - only to be added in an expansion and used for a very short time, never to be seen again after that. Which is a pity, as these areas then languish and turn to dust without anyone ever sparing them a second thought - a fate arguably unbecoming some of these amazing areas.

A story of time.
For veterans of Guild Wars, this area may bring feelings of sadness. Once a lush green area known as the Silverwoods, it dried out around 250 years before present day Guild Wars 2
The Silverwood in the original game was below the Dry Uplands but above the swamps. Unlike now, the main enemies were the centaurs.
Two main explorable areas were the Mamnoon Lagoon to the north east, a lush area containing a small body of regenerative water. These days there is not even a dried out remnant of this lagoon, and with the vastly different topography no one knows what happened to the beloved Lagoon. Another area was Bloodstone Fen to the Northwest. Another area that has vastly changed in the modern day equivalent. |

Not only is the Silverwastes full of pretty, golden architecture, it is also home to what is probably one of the highest free-fall (deadly) drops in the game.
Sadly I was a fool and did not record the damage taken, but it was far superior to 9000! |
