The Second half of the Saga
As we saw in Pt I, Bjora Marches had a major - and I mean MAJOR - bit of blank space.
It appears that the Design team have chosen to split the map up into two - releasing the second part only with the story. Honestly, I'm a little glad of this, as it leaves plenty of room for speculation to overtake the disappointment of so much emptiness.
Anyway! On to the actual research!

Drakkars Lair
Drakkar is one of Jormags oldest champions. As mentioned in the previous page, Drakkar Lake was the location where the dormant champion laid for many eons.
Despite still being trapped within the ice, Drakkar was capable of 'whispering' Jormags influence over those nearby. In fact, it was Drakkar who twisted Joras brother, Svanir, into the Nornbear.
Even now, Drakkar spreads Jormags words through the land, tempting and twisting those in its way. As we now know, the Kodan appear to be suffering the most from this spread. Drakkars influence over the Kodan was in direct consequence of the Commander and the Pacts attack on the dragons.

With Zhaitans defeat at the hands of the Pact and the release of the magical energy, Jormag received a part of its power over death. Jormag used this to influence Drakkar as well and caused his image to change - exposing many of its bones, including its ribs, hands and back legs.
It also seemingly grew ice spikes along its body. There is a very good quote in game that explains the differences: Vigil Crusader: The stories made it seem like Drakkar was trapped in the ice. And that it looked...different then. Kodan Guard: That was hundreds of years ago. The whole time, Jormag's power seeped into the beast. Molding. Changing. Vigil Crusader: So you're saying those pictures the old explorers drew...they're still accurate? Kodan Guard: Were accurate. Ice fills any shape. Becomes any form. The dragon's magic changed Drakkar to suit its purposes. |
Drakkars power grew with each dragon slain by the Commander, and after the death of Kralkatorrik, its whispers were loud enough to turn even the steadfast Kodan upon each other.
It is worthy to note that the kodan were only in this area, as they had been forced to flee Jormags advances upon their old home after the loss of the old Spirits.
To explain, after Jormag had awoken from its hibernation in 1165AE, it scattered the Kodan sanctuaries at the same time as it had forced the Norn southwards.
As we mentioned, Jormag had altered the landscape, this includes flooding Drakkar Lake and the area around it. As Jormag successfully turned the Spirits of Ox, Eagle and Wolverine to its side, their power mixed with the Svanirs idols of Jormag, and granted Drakkar what effectively amounted to immortality.
