Labyrinthine Cliffs - At long last!
Labyrinthine Cliffs are a "byzantine system of cliffs" that are located at the bottom left of the Deldrimor Front.
Players were first allowed to travel to this map in the Season of the Scion, 1326 AE, when the Zephyr Sanctum docked temporarily to join the Bazaar of the Four Winds. For those of us running on Earth time, July 9th, 2013 was the very first festival, and we saw what we believed to be the last one in May 20th, 2014. At least up until July 24th 2018, when it was finally brought back.
According to the Guildwars 2 Wiki, 'although it is generally uninhabited, you could find a Krait settlement close offshore.' These days however it appears all you can find is a few wrecked ships, a squashed quaggan and a couple of Quaggan ghosts.

The Festival of the Four Winds was the precursor to the second living world story; a festival to raise the money to rebuild Lions Arch after the devastation wreaked by Scarlett Briar.
The Bazaar of the Four Winds originally introduced the Zephyrites as well as the Zephyr Sanctum to Guildwars 2. Much harder than the map we have now - complete with mounts and updrafts, travel was kept to the use of the Aspects - essentially turning the map into one massive jumping puzzle as people made their way across the cliffs to the zephyrs Home Ship.
The home ship is no longer accessible, mainly due to its destruction by Aerin - the sylvari driven to madness by Mordremoths whispers. For those who do not know, Aerin had requested to join the Zephyrites on their voyage. Although he was originally rejected on two separate occasions however was finally permitted to join them as a trader.
He called himself a "Soundless" - A group of Sylvari who cut themselves away from the Pale tree and her teachings. They ran away from the Dream of Dreams in order to escape the pressure through their own form of meditation. This separation from the Pale Tree caused the Soundless to become more vulnerable to Mordremoths corruption.
Aerin believed the Master of Peace was in possession of an item of 'great power that he couldn't handle', which after the release of Heart Of Thorns was revealed to be the very last of Glints eggs.
Now however the Labyrinthine Cliffs are home to someone else. Someone of great importance: (Whose correct name was given to me by Reddit user /u/Linuky)

And I know we don't often do this, but we found one more person who appears to have more style than a Skritt in a Dragon cave, and who we cannot resist showing you !
Meet one of the most stylish looking Norn I have had the pleasure of meeting in all my time in Guildwars 2.

The cliffs are quite a stunning area, at least on the inside. But in truth be told, the rest of it is a little.... lacking, (a.k.a snowy hills that lead to nothing but a watery drop, which in turn hides nothing but very deep water.). Of course this is to be expected considering as the main map itself is an absolute plethora of small details and complicated NPC mixes! There is even small things such as baskets of fruits and fish that you cannot really see unless you take the time to peep into the windows of the houses.
However in saying that, there is one area that is quite interesting. there is what appears to be a very small beach that leads to a very wide and high cave located behind the Zephyr cliff village.
Perhaps an area they would have liked to include but couldn't?

Another thing that is interesting to note is the fact that the short plot of land between the Cliffs and Mount Maelstrom is actually there, past the barrier. You just sadly cannot get to it. I have been informed however that this is the Aspect Arena but have yet to confirm this as I haven't ran it !
However from what I have been able to see, it isn't quite the same bit of land! (Credit to That_Shamen for the map!) |

Another thing I noticed about the map was how small it was. Unlike many of the older maps, it is not just a small amount of land that is locked in a large map and blocked with invisible walls, the boundaries you can see on the map are closer to the layout of the newer maps - what you see is what you get.
