Bjora Marches - Not quite as much a headache this time!
An absolutely stunning map. Rather small, but that's fine! There's a lot there, so maybe theres a lot hidden away we haven't seen yet?
It does however have the best little easteregg I've ever come across! A signature from one of the people who designed the map!
I should preface this by saying that breaking oput of this map required literal pixel-perfect precision please kill me - especially as I still need to go back and explore the other areas of this map.
But to the left of the map (or west, for you pedantics) is a massive, surprisingly empty area.

One that's actually more than double the actual map size. After speaking to a more knowledgable source: "It looks like they design the map, they make a default size - one that they probably have a few of by now - and then when they fill it, its easier to just lock it off than to resize the environment." I mean, sounds logical to me at least? |
The vast jagged landscape of this map has apparently been caused over 150 years since falling under the influence of Jormag.
Before Joras brother, Svanir, was twisted into the creature known as the Nornbear when the two of them were hunting over Drakkar Lake. Svanir had apparently called upon a presence within the lake which ended up being a champion of Jormag and used the Elder Dragon's power to turn Svanir into said creature.
Jora did eventually manage to kill the Nornbear, and was said to have reclaimed her ability to "become the bear".
This story can actually be played within the origional Guildwars expansion: Guild Wars Eye of the North.
It is interesting to note that this map was simply called the Far Shiverpeaks during this campaign, and was apparently unexplored until 1078AE. Due to this, it only appears to have gained its own name recently. Honestly though, that's a guess so if I'm wrong, just let me know.
These days, rather than the destroyers that ravaged it during the origional campaign, we have found ourselves faced with a hoard of Sons of Svanir, Icebrood, The Fallen and Aberrant creatures that haunt the long destroyed shrines, as well as the beloved Boneskinner.
Curiously with this map, we have finally been able to visit a map actually protected by one of the spirits of the wild. Remember folks, Raven does NOT have fingers or thumbs to be able to poke enemies away, and as such, he cannot be blamed for the pitiful state his map is in.
After all, isn't that why we are there now?
I shall update this soon, with video and better screens, but you all know the law.
You cannot move a sleeping cat.
